Employee reward systems refer to programs set up by a company to reward performance and motivate employees on individual and/or group levels. They are normally considered separate from salary but may be monetary in nature or otherwise have a cost to the company.

An employee reward system has to fit the employees working at an organization. There can’t be one size fits everyone as everyone is driven to perform differently. Some employees value time off, other public recognition, while another group may enjoy self-improvement. A companies program has been tailored to the individual and based on their performance levels. If the employees have the opportunity to have a say in the types of rewards they receive, this will drive them to work harder for an organization.
